Why CSAT still earns its place
CSAT is the most direct measure of a single moment — a support call, a purchase, an onboarding session. Because it is asked immediately after the experience, it is the best tool for spotting friction while it is still fresh enough to fix.
Transactional, not relational
Unlike NPS, CSAT is tied to one interaction. That makes it ideal for the moments you control: support tickets, checkouts and deliveries, where a bad experience is still reversible.
Trend it per channel
A blended CSAT is nearly useless. Tracked per channel — support vs. billing vs. onboarding — it shows exactly which part of the experience is degrading before the overall number moves.
Always pair it with "why"
The percentage tells you how many were satisfied; the open follow-up tells you what satisfaction is made of. Teams that skip the open field are flying blind on the reasons.
